I love reading the Bible because it has mind-opening and inspiring ancient spiritual truths. While reading it I realized that the popular idea of semen retention is in the Bible. I then noted down a few Bible Verses on semen retention, which I shared on my blog. In this article, I will try to explain what the Bible says about semen retention by discussing some of these verses.
We read in Romans 8:6 that ‘The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.’ Here, the Bible encourages semen retention by claiming that a mind dominated by sexual urges and desires results in spiritual death. This death occurs because succumbing to sexual urges results in a loss of spiritual vitality and disconnects us from our spirit self by reinforcing animal consciousness.
Moreover, this Bible verse claims that rising above bodily desires and focusing on spirituality results in life and peace. It implies that when we avoid sex and ensure that spiritual matters dominate our mind, we transmute our sexual energy, resulting in increased vitality, which makes us feel more alive. We also experience inner peace when our mind is focused on spirituality and not dominated by intrusive thoughts that accompany the craving for physical pleasure.
In Romans 7:5, the Bible reveals that living a life of the flesh, which refers to a life characterized by an obsession with physical pleasures, leads to death. It says, ‘For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death,’ to demonstrate that a spiritual death occurs when we are obsessed with physical pleasures since the obsession separates us from God and creates a barrier between us and our spiritual essence.
In 1st Corinthians 6: 13, we read that ‘The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.’ This verse encourages semen retention by discouraging compulsive sexual behaviour and asking us to perceive our body as a vessel that God uses to experience physical reality. It informs us that the body is not only meant for sexual gratification but it is also designed as a tool that enables God to connect with us while we are on earth.
Furthermore, the Bible encourages semen retention in 2nd Corinthians 5:6-8, which says, ‘Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.’ This verse means that immersing ourselves in sensory pleasure disconnects us from divine consciousness while rising above bodily desires and longing for spiritual growth by being away from the body ensures unity with the Divine.
The Bible also perceives semen retainers – or those who have made the conscious decision to overcome bodily desires – as individuals committed to living in alignment with the life of Christ Jesus, which was characterized by purity and spiritual focus, when it says in Galatians 5:24, “And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.”
Lastly, in 1st Peter 2:11, the Bible says that semen retention is important because indulging in bodily desires prevents soul development. The verse says, “Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.” Primarily, the verse means that we prevent our true spiritual nature from fully expressing itself when we indulge in bodily desires. For this reason, it urges us to retain our seed if we want our true self to shine and express its spiritual powers.
Only individuals with a deep level of spiritual insight and understanding can notice semen retention in the Bible and fully understand what the Bible says about semen retention. These individuals will find that the Bible provides intriguing insights into the concept of semen retention, by sharing the spiritual benefits of overcoming bodily desires and focusing on the Divine.
Shalom.
